From my thrifted inventory I reuse and make better by turning this blue striped shirt inside out and stitching it as the lining to the blue plaid snap button one. A sustainable, warm, one and only medium-sized unisex shirt/jacket that will last years, not months.
This has the serendipity of both shirts being the same size to begin with and then the colors of the 2 shirts combine so well. I kept the two collars and cuffs. With both cuffs used, the end result feels a bit like flower petals around your wrists. The hem is straight across, ‘bolero’ style, at the belt line.
And hey, it REALLY is just me stitching, and Boss is REALLY my last name! It says so on my workshop label included on this shirt. Stitching is a joy and a meditation and it is what has kept me sane through the last few election cycles.
Each one takes approximately 3 hours to create. I use a combination of walking foot and hand stitching to make this your next favorite cherished wardrobe piece.
The overproduction of the fast fashion industry is toxic for our environment and our souls! Making these upcycled shirts is a sustainable practice which keeps them out of the landfills of third world countries.
This ‘slow fashion’ shirt is a unisex, ‘boyfriend’ type shirt that I personally wear unbuttoned as a ‘jacket’ year round. As for sizing, please, please note the detailed measurement I’m listing here and I ask you to take the time to take the measurement of your favorite-sized shirt. People come in all sizes. What REALLY is a ‘mens medium’ or a ‘women’s size 8’ anyways? Let’s establish what will fit YOU and eliminate the possibility of a return. I’ve exhaustively measured this shirt, and I’m asking you to measure your own shirt that you like the fit of. I know it is a pain to do so, but just assuming a ‘medium’ fits you sets us both up for frustration.
Because of this, I am stringent on no returns. Please take the time to measure what a good fit is for you.
This shirt is basically a ‘medium’, but have a good look at the following measurements (lay flat):
Chest (between armpits): 25”
Shoulder: 20”
Side armpit to hem: 16”
Sleeve armpit to cuff: 20”
Center back to cuff: 34”
Collar (band of): 18.5”
Back collar band to hem: 25.5”
This light blue plaid snap button and light blue striped shirt is a perfect sustainable statement piece for breezy seaside mornings, foggy late nights, campfires, statement workwear, or lounging around the house. Stitched to last years, not just months!
Material: thrifted shirts selected for vintage and quality (no fast fashion flotsam!)
Each piece is handmade by me with pride and intention in my beachtown workshop by combining 2 shirts into one for warmth and style! (two shirts that were meant to be together! Aww..)If you appreciate durable, timeless, Upcycled, Boho, Americana, surf shack eye-catching pieces with heart and history, you’re in the right place.
I also can take a shirt you love (or of a loved one) and do my reworked magic. Is there a shirt your dad wore that we can rework into a new life as a keepsake? Or do you have a favorite shirt that looks and fits right, but can be taken to 11? I have a back room full of thrifted shirts ready to pair, so let’s restitch something you’ll cherish.
